With privacy slowly becoming a major concern in social networking sites, it is important to keep an eye on what information you are giving out. Your facebook timeline is one of the places where you can unintentionally give out information publicly. So its critical to Check how your facebook timeline looks to others.

Here is how to Check How My Facebook Timeline Looks to Others

To check what your friends, other users and public can see on your timeline, you can use the built-in “View As” tool. This is how to use it:

  1. Go to your Timeline and click on the button “…“
  2. Click on “View As…” in the dropdown menu.
  3. Now You will see what your Timeline looks to the public. To see how your Timeline appears to someone in specific (friend, collegue, relative ect.) click “View as Specific Person“, type their name in the text box and press enter.

‘Heartbleed’, A major new vulnerability in the open software OpenSSL could let attackers gain access to user passwords and even fool people into using bogus versions of Web sites!

While the scope and size of the damage isnt clear, the fact that it has hit some of the major websites is a huge cause of worry.

Here is how to check if a website is venerable to this bug:

  1. Visit the following webpage: http://filippo.io/Heartbleed/
  2. Type in the url of the website you want to check in the space provided
  3. Hit Go! (and pray)

Protect your Thumb Drive from Viruses using a Simple Hack



One of the easiest ways for getting your system infected with viruses is by using infected thumbdrives.  Most viruses create a startup file with the name “autorun.inf” and in the file point to the location of the virus(within the drive) to be run automatically when the thumb drive is detected.

Most Antivirus programs detect these viruses but there is a simple hack that can be used to prevent these Autorun viruses from infecting your drive.

All you need to do is:

  1. Delete the “autorun.inf” file in the root folder of your thumb drive(if the file exists)
  2. Create a new folder with the name” autorun.inf” in the root folder of the thumb drive

How does this work?
Well most viruses create the autorun.inf file when the thumb drive is inserted, by creating a folder with the same name the virus cannot create the file. Also since its a folder its not straightforward to delete and replace it(thank you Fat32 filesystem)

Ps: This hack works with most common viruses but its still recomended that you have an updated antivirus program to faithfully protect your system against virus attacks.
