How to Disable Facebook Links from opening in the Facebook App Browser

Facebook logo Español: Logotipo de Facebook Fr...Facebook recently update added a new feature to its mobile app. The feature loads all links clicked on Facebook to open in the in-app browser as opposed to a browser installed on the phone. While this is faster, it seriously limits what you can do with the open page (for eg. sharing is limited). But fortunately this feature can be disabled.

To disable it, do the following:

  1. In the Facebook app, goto Menu > App Settings
  2. In General Settings, you will find the “Always open links with external browser” option. Tap it to Enable it.
  3. Now your facebook app should behave just the way it did before the update.

How to Change Proxy Setting in Firefox

Connecting to a proxy server is a very common requirement at most business establishments. To use Firefox through a proxy it must first be configured to do so. Here is how to do it:

  • Click the “Firefox” menu. Hover over “Options”, and then select “Options” from the submenu.
  • Open the “Advanced” category. Click on the “Network” tab.
  • Click the “Settings” button. This will open the “Connection Settings” window.
  • Choose “Manual proxy configuration”. This will allow you to enter information in the fields.
  • Enter your proxy information. Enter the proxy server that you are connecting to in the “HTTP Proxy” field. If you need to enter a specific port, enter it into the “Port” field.
    If you are connecting to a different FTP proxy, enter it into the “FTP Proxy” field. If you want to use one proxy server for all of the protocols, check the box underneath the “HTTP Proxy” field.
  • Press “OK” to save your changes. You may need to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.

Restoring Lost Session in Firefox

After a crash Firefox, when restarted gives a page with the option of Restoring the session or Starting a new session. Sometimes in haste we might hit the “New Session” option and feel a bit stupid that all those open tabs are now gone…

Well there is a simple way to undo that. Simply point your browser to “about:sessionrestore” and you will get back to the page with the option of restoring your previous session again!
