Heard a lot of wonderful reviews of the latest firefox? Want to try it out on your Ubuntu box?
Well unfortunately Ubuntu does not update its Firefox packages immediately after the release. To give a good test run for the latest and best you need to add the repository for the latest release of firefox. The steps are explained below:

There are a lot of different ways to sample the latest browser but this was the best in my opinion.

Mozilla team made Firefox 3.6 available to Ubuntu community for testing.

  1. Open the file /etc/apt/sources.list in your favorite text editor (sudo so that you can write into the file)
  2. Add the following line to the end of the file:
    deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/mozillateam/firefox-stable/ubuntu karmic main

(Replace karmic by the version of ubuntu installed on your system)
Karmic 9.10 or later: Add ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable to your system’s Software Sources.
  3. Update your apt repositories by running “sudo apt-get update
  4. Install the package for the new version of Firefox “sudo apt-get install firefox
